So, here's the piece I worked an entire week on that no one will probably even look at.
I designed this as my first print for a Redbubble store, so I originally drew this in a massive 5000x3500 px, which is why it took so long to finish. I'm not good with big file sizes, but I'll get used to it.
Anyway! I've had this idea in my head for awhile. I really love Arab/Middle Eastern culture, but I hate the stereotype that being Muslim = pure evil. In fact, that was the original title, "pure evil" since this was meant to be a much more opinion-based pic. However I decided to make it more art related by playing on the word alignment with the sun, moon, and stars, day and night, religious alignment, and alignment between good and evil. I also added in some Islamic influences, like the subtle Crescent and Star and using an image from the dome of a Mosque in Cairo to represent the sun's rays.
Either way, enjoy. :> I'll write a journal entry/update this pic once I set up shop.
Rather shocked to hear there's a stereotype for being pure evil. Over here, the worst thing that gets said is that their shops are a rip-off, or that refugee's get too much from the government.
It was! Think about it, the average computer screen is about 900x1800 px at 100% resolution, and this was about 5 times that big. I had to actually close GIMP and let my comp rest because it slowed everything down so much.
You've refined A LOT your style, I really enjoy the painting, great composition and colour! And well, stereotypes... they usually have a reason, unfortunately, but sometimes they just don't understand that muslims can be great people too, and that they're people just like everyone else...

That must be a REALLY BIG file faelan O-o
It must be a lot of detailing O_o
Yeah, it sucks. :/ Hopefully it'll change someday.
