Description
"Oh Shining Armor~! Won't you please help me with this corset? "
As the thid Tudor Pony I've drawn, this is now officially a series! I present to you, Tudor Cadance!
Since the portrait I used for Celestia's dress was of Queen Elizabeth at age 13, I didn't get to fully paint the over the top, outrageous fashions she was known for when she was a full on queen. However, I stumbled upon a pic of the good queen in a dress that resembled the wedding dress in the playset Cadance first came out in, and decided to use it. You simply can't have a series of Tudor portraits without starched collars and those strange pendants that hang from the skirts.
I kind of cheated a bit with Cadance's hair, and refferenced a screenshot from Elizabeth: the Golden Age to help with the shades. The movie was horribly innacurate, but at least they got the fashions and Elizabeth's wigs right (as far as I can tell).
Fun Fact: The title of this picture, "Her Own Content" is actually an excerpt from a message written beneath "An Allegory of the Tudor Succession", a painting Queen Elizabeth I gave to Sir Francis Walsingham as a gift. The full passage reads "The Queen to Walsingham this tablet sent; Mark of her people's and her own content." The painting can be seen here: [link]
Up next: Lord Solaris as Henry VIII!
Original portrait: [link]
Enjoy!
Previous Tudor Ponies:
EDIT: Changed the color balance and contrast.
