In an attempt to expand the eras in my series of Historical Ponies, I bring you Pinkie Pie as the last queen of France: Marie Antoinette.
I can also imagine Pinkie saying "Draw me like one of your French Mares" in this picture.
So...reasons for choosing to cross Marie and Pinkie other than the disturbing lack of Pinkie in my gallery: Pinkie's Gala dress is extremely similar to Marie's dress in the portrait this was based off of (massive gown, lace in similar places, big ass bows, and even the hat). They also both grew up in relatively strict environments as children before moving onto more carefree, leisurely lifestyles. Both had rediculously long names (Pinkamena Diane Pie, Maria Antonia Josepha Johanna). And finally, Pinkie's toy (from the blindbags and Celestisa set) always reminded me of French hairstyles for some reason. I think it's the curls. Throw in the fact the line "Let Them Eat Cake" and I just knew I had to.
My most complicated Historical Pony yet, I tried to use alot of background and foreground elements similar to the portraits of Marie. I also really love the style Le` Brun (Marie's foremost portrait artist: [link]
), it's as if the lights in the picture are glowing, so I tried to duplicate that effect. I think I'll continue using more complex bg's for the rest of the Historic Ponies.
P.S. Pinkie would never be able to make this pose, as that dress would've been supported by massive panniers. however this is Pinkie Pie. She defies all laws of reality.
And before you historians tear me to pieces I know Marie Antoinette never said "Let them eat cake".
I just liked how well it fit Pinkie, and it's heavilly associated with Marie, so I used it.
And it's not wine in that glass, it's berry punch. :>
